vegeterianism

Vegetarianism And Religion:
All the religions and spiritual groups preach nonviolence. This teaching can be extended to cover vegetarianism. One of the Ten Commandments is, "Thou shalt not kill". In Islam, it is said, "God will not be affectionate to that man who is not affectionate to God's creatures". Some western religious and spiritual leaders and thinkers, such as John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist church, were vegetarians.
In Indian religions such as Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism, nonviolence (AHINSA) is the cardinal principle. This principle entails reverence for all life and precludes deliberate killing or injuring any living organism. Thus Indian religions place great importance on vegetarianism
The teaching of Bhagwaan Mavaveer is:
One should not hurt a living being intentionally or by negligence in the strictest sense. We are not to injure any living organism however small it may be, directly with our hands, by causing some one to do so on our behalf or by consent to the act of injury.
According to Jainism, meat is a breeding ground for innumerable living organisms - a fact supported by modern biology. Acharya Amritchandra Suri who lived in the tenth century has written: "The same is true of the eggs whether fertile or not". It is a fact that vegetarian foods also contain some living organisms. Suri who lived in the tenth century has written: "In the raw meat and in the cooked meat, innumerable living organism are generated incessantly. Thus he who consumes meat in any form commits violence against a large number of living beings."
Jainism tells us that we can only limit violence and avoid unnecessary violence. Non- vegetarianism involves violence which is unnecessary and which can be easily avoided.
Bhagwaan Buddha placed immense importance on kindness and compassion towards all living beings. His teachings include the following:
Not superstitious rites but kindness to servants and underlings, respect to those deserving of respect, self control coupled with kindness in dealing with living creatures, these and virtuous deeds of like nature are verity the rites that are everywhere to be performed.
In what consists true religion?
In causing as little suffering as possible, in doing as much good as possible and in showing love, compassion, truthfulness and purity as often as possible.
Man Is Vegetarian By Nature:
Scientists believe that the diet of any animal corresponds to its anatomical and physiological system. Animals can be divided into three categories according to their natural diet. Carnivores such as lions, dogs, cats, live mostly on meat; herbivores such as cows, sheep, and elephants eat grass and leaves; and frugivores such as anthropoid apes live on fruits, nuts, and grains. Men, herbivores and frugivores, have intestinal tracts which are about twelve times their body length and their teeth are small and dull. The intestinal tract of carnivores is only three times their body length so that rapidly decaying meat can pass out quickly and they have claws and sharp front teeth for tearing while no flat molars for grinding. Carnivores have strong hydrochloric acid in their stomach to digest meat while men, herbivores and frugivores, have stomach acid twenty times less strong than meat-eaters. In addition to these differences, carnivores have no pores and they perspire through the tongue to cool their bodies, while humans, herbivores and frugivores perspire through millions of pores on the skin. Flesh-eating carnivores have small salivary glands in their mouth because they do not need to pre-digest flesh. On the other hand, men like other vegetarian animals have well developed salivary glands which are needed to pre-digest grains and fruits. From the above comparison, it is evident that man is vegetarian by nature. It seems that because of circumstances over the past several thousand years of man's history, some men deviated from their natural diet and be came omnivores who eat both meat and plants. However, our anatomical and physiological features have remained similar to those of other vegetarian animals. It should be remarked that man can not eat raw meat like carnivores do. He has to cook it, bake it, broil it or fry it and, then decorate it with sauces and spices to suppress its raw taste.
In addition to anatomical and physiological features, man's natural instincts are very different from those of meat-eating animals. Barbara Parham writes:
A cat will salivate with hungry desire at the smell of a piece of raw flesh but not at all at the smell of fruit. If man could delight in pouncing upon a bird, tear its still living limbs apart with his teeth, and suck the warm blood, one might conclude that nature provided him with meat-eating instinct. On the other hand, a bunch of luscious grapes makes his mouth water, and even in the absence of hunger, he will eat fruit because it tastes so good.
Vegetarianism And Health:
The natural diet of man consists of fruits, nuts and grains, not meat. Then the question arises: When a human beings natural diet is a vegetarian diet, why do large numbers of people eat animal flesh? There is a variety of reasons for people having a non-vegetarian diet. Most people are concerned about their health and many people have the misconception that non-vegetarian foods are the only source of getting all the nutrients that can make them strong, healthy and active. A careful study, however, reveals not only that a vegetarian diet is good for health but also that a non-vegetarian diet is unnecessary and to some extent detrimental to health.
The myths that meat has a monopoly on protein and that large amounts of protein are needed for energy and strength, has led to the inclusion of excessive amount of flesh and eggs in the Western diet. People are unaware of the fact that their bodies need smaller amounts of protein than the amount supplied by non-vegetarian sources. Most flesh -eating people eat about two times as much protein as their bodies can use. Although inadequate amounts of protein cause loss of energy, the body can not utilize excessive amount of protein, rather, excess protein is converted into nitrogenous wastes that burden the kidneys. The primary source of energy for the body is carbohydrates. It is only as a last resort that proteins are used for energy production in the body. While being digested most protein breaks down into amino acids which are used by the body for growth and tissue replacement. There are twenty-two essential amino acids. All but eight of the essential amino acids can be synthesized by the body itself. The eight essential amino acids exist in abundance in vegetarian foods such as dairy products, grains, beans and nuts. Ounce for ounce, cheese, nuts, lentils, for instance, have more protein than hamburger, pork or steak. People who eat meat, do get all amino acids but they also gain a lot of fat. Lapp has suggested the following common complementary natural protein combinations of vegetarian foods:
1. Grain (rice, corn, wheat, barley, etc.) + legumes (peas, beans, and lentils)
2. Grains + milk products
3. Seeds (sesame or sunflower) + legumes
When foods are combined in proper proportions, as much as 50 percent more of the protein is absorbed by the body, compared to same foods eaten separately.
In addition to protein, vegetarian food is a good source of other essential nutrients like carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals and fiber.
Many studies have revealed that a high-fat diet is not good for health, whether the fat is derived from animals or from vegetable sources.
Meat has a high concentration of saturated fat. Eggs are rich in cholesterol. These cause heart disease and brain stroke. During World War II, when many Europeans were forced to eat less fat and cholesterol and fewer calories, the rate of heart disease fell dramatically. High-fat, low-fiber content of non-vegetarian diet causes many diseases including cancer of colon and rectum, brain, lungs, liver, etc.
A large number of potentially harmful chemicals are present in meat. The animals are fed tranquilizers, hormones, antibiotics and 2700 other drugs. Some of these are present in meat as well. Certain preservatives are also potentially harmful. In spite of all possible precautions and government regulations and inspections, some diseased animals are also slaughtered. In spite of these facts, in Western countries, especially in America, people consider eating meat, in general, and beef in particular, a status symbol. The problems in producing and preserving non-vegetarian food are much more serious than those in producing and preserving grains, vegetables and fruits.
From the above discussion, it is evident that a vegetarian diet is in harmony with natural laws. A balanced vegetarian diet is good for health. A recent study performed in England has shown that on an average, it is less expensive to maintain the health of a vegetarian person than that of a non-vegetarian person. This shows that vegetarians get fewer and milder health problems than non-vegetarians.
It is seen that the food we eat affects not only our bodies but also our minds- our attitude and thinking. Mahatma Gandhi said,"There is a great deal of truth in the saying that man becomes what he eats." In general, vegetarians are less aggressive than their non-vegetarian counterparts, although vices like greed, false pride and prejudice, also play an important role in making the character of man. In sum, vegetarianism, in conjunction with other virtues, does lead to our physical and mental well-being.
Economics of vegetarianism:
Vegetarian diet is less expensive than non-vegetarian diet. The fact is that for every 16 pounds of grain and soy fed to meat animals, only one pound of meat is obtained. Comparatively, 16 pounds of grain and soy contain 21 times more calories and eight times more protein but only three times more fat than a pound of meat. This implies that vegetarianism is the answer to the colossal problems of population growth and world hunger. People have the misconception that hunger and malnutrition are caused by lack of meat. In fact, hunger and malnutrition are caused by lack of food, and,the insufficiency and high price of meat only aggravate these problems. The world produces enough grain, milk and milk products for all the poor and malnourished people. The tragic truth is that 80-90% of all grain produced in America goes for feeding meat animals. Presently, millions of acres of land is used for raising livestock for meat. This same land can be used more productively for growing vegetables, beans and legumes.
Studies have shown that a living cow yields more food than a dead one, in the form of milk and milk products, and, in most places on earth, it eats only grass and inedible remains of harvested crops such as rice hulls, tops of sugarcane, etc. Thus the statement that people in India are starving because they do not kill their cows is misleading. Proper care and feeding of cows can greatly alleviate the problem of malnutrition in India

“ PYRAMID MASTERS AND PSSM ”
The Pyramid Spiritual Societies Movement, is one of the foremost New Age Movements of the current period on this Earth.
For the first time, on a scientific basis, MEDITATION has become available to the rural masses and to the urban elite alike. For the first time, PYRAMID ENERGY has been connected to meditation, on a massive scale.
Pyramid Masters are spreading, on a war-footing, the science of anapanasati meditation and the message of VEGETARIANISM to all the nooks and corners of India.
“ Kurnool Spiritual Society ”
The Pyramid Spiritual Societies Movement (PSSM) was initially started as “ THE KURNOOL SPIRITUAL SOCIETY ” .. during the year 1990, in Kurnool, a district headquarters town in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India.
The first pyramid .. of the size of 30'x30' .. was constructed during the year 1991, at Kurnool, with the philanthropic support of Sri B.V. Reddy, a prominent industrialist of Kurnool Town. It was named as “ Buddha Pyramid Meditation Centre ”.
“ the MOVEMENT gets expanded ”
Subsequently, in the following three to four years, the MOVEMENT got expanded widely into several villages and towns in the RAYALASEEMA AREA of Andhra Pradesh .. covering the four districts of Kurnool, Anantapur, Kadapa and Chittoor.
By the year 2000, all major towns throughout the length and breadth of the state of Andhra Pradesh was bristling with anapanasati meditation.
A target was fixed . to cover the whole state of Andhra Pradesh .. village wise .. by the year 2004.
End of the year 2004, the “ Dhyanandhra Pradesh ” program was officially concluded in Hyderabad, capital city of Andhra Pradesh, amidst great fan-fare and celebrations.
By the time, thousands of villages and lakhs of people were successfully introduced to anapanasati meditation .. thanks to the sincere efforts .. by hundreds of dedicated full-time pyramid masters.
“ dhyana Bharat ”
Simultaneous to the efforts in Andhra Pradesh, several senior pyramid masters also began to concentrate in the neighbouring states of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh etc., .. starting with the year 1998. Extensive areas were covered in the next few years.
After the year 2004, new states were added e.g. Andaman, Delhi, Uttaranchal, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Odisha etc. Hundreds of pyramid masters, trained in all these states, began working for the spread of anapanasati meditation .. and a veritable MEDITATION SCIENCE REVOLUTION was sweeping the country.
“ dhyana Jagat ”
The first visit by myself to other countries was in the year 1999, when I went for a fortnight to conduct meditation classes in Singapore and Hongkong.
In the years 2000 to 2002, a number of meditation sessions were conducted in Kathmandu, capital city of Nepal.
In the year 2004, I made a sixty-day trip to USA and ten states were covered and many meditation sessions were organized.
In the year 2005, about forty pyramid masters along with myself went for a seven day meditational tour to Sri Lanka.
In the year 2006, myself and a couple of pyramid masters conducted several meditation sessions in the cities of Melbourne and Sydney in Australia.
In the year 2007, in the month of February, a group of seventeen pyramid masters, along with myself, visited Bhutan to conduct classes in Thimphu. In the same year I visited Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, England, Singapore, Dubai etc.
In the year 2008, Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, Malaysia, Singapore etc., were visited and many many meditation training programmes were organized.
In the year 2009, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Fiji Islands, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai were visited.
In the year 2010, Cambodia, Thailand, Egypt, Malaysia, Singapore were visited.
In the year 2011 a batch of pyramid masters visited the great Pyramid in Egypt. Training programmes were conducted in Cairo, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City. A batch of pyramid masters also visited Mauritius.
“ Pyramid Bharat ”
One of the most important points of PSSM is also to construct pyramids everywhere.
There are about thirty thousand villages in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The target is to construct one pyramid per village .. by the year 2016.
Already, thousands of pyramids have come up everywhere, in many of the villages and towns and cities of Andhra Pradesh.
Further target is “ PYRAMID BHARAT ” .. i.e., all the major towns, in all the states of India, should have their own meditational pyramids .. by the year 2016.
Already, many pyramids .. small and big .. have come up in several states.
The final target is “ PYRAMID JAGAT ” .. i.e., the whole of the world should be covered by meditational pyramids .. again by the year 2016.

What are the benifits of meditation?

In a modern world that values activity, achievements and results, it is perhaps surprising that more people are turning to meditation. For all the activity of modern society, many still feel a fundamental need for silence, inner peace, and a moment of reflection. Meditation can reduce stress and help us relax; but, it can also give us a lot more. These are some of the benefits that daily meditation can give us.

Reduced Stress

Meditation helps to reduce stress by teaching us to switch off from the worries that can plague us through the day. Meditation is an opportunity to spend time by ourselves, without feeling at the beck and call of others. Spending 15 minutes in quietening the mind and focusing on the present moment, makes us more relaxed and effective decision makers.

Health Benefits

Numerous studies have shown that meditation has health benefits. Many of these benefits are related to the decrease in stress that occurs through meditation. For example, with lower levels of stress and anxiety, the probability of heart disease diminishes significantly.
This is not to say meditation guarantees you good health. But, there is a growing awareness of the link between our state of mind and physical health. Quite often physical ailments are symptoms of inner turmoil. Meditation can give us peace of mind, and this can be a helpful step in avoiding many stress related ailments. Meditation has also been shown to relieve the pain associated with certain illnesses.

Control Your Own Thoughts

Man has conquered space, Mount Everest and numerous other challenges; but, are we able to conquer our own mind? How often do you find yourself victim to your own negative thoughts? Some people are even of the opinion that it is impossible to control your thoughts. However, the art of meditation teaches that, not only is it possible to control our thoughts, but, we can learn to stop them completely. Through meditation we can bring our unruly mind under control. This creates peace of mind and enables us to achieve what we want to.

Detachment

When we live in the mind it is easy to get distracted by small irritations. For example, maybe we find it intolerable to be kept waiting in a line, or we get upset by a small misdemeanour of another person. The solution is not to avoid these minor problems, because they will keep appearing no matter how hard we may try.
The only effective solution is to develop detachment and keep things in perspective. A powerful benefit of meditation is that we are able to detach ourselves from these insignificant, yet irritating thoughts. This detachment is not indifference, it is just that we are able to maintain equanimity in the midst of life’s inevitable turbulence.

Happiness and Peace of Mind

Is there anybody who does not, in some way, seek after happiness? Meditation takes us to the source of happiness, which is to be found in our own peace of mind. If we have no peace of mind and are constantly attacked by negative thoughts, happiness will remain elusive, no matter how successful we are on an outer plane. It is perhaps hard to imagine that happiness can occur from the simple act of being. However, if we can meditate with a still mind, we will discover an unexpected source of happiness within our own self. Meditation shows us that happiness is not dependent on outer circumstances, but on our inner attitude.

Concentration

Be it work, sport or music, concentration is essential to fulfill our potential. In one pointed concentration there is great power; our energy and focus do not get dissipated. When we have concentration we can do more in less time. Through meditation we gradually improve our powers of concentration; this focus can be used for both meditation, and also other activities we engage in.

Spontaneity and Creativity

When we live in the thinking mind, we are usually preoccupied with the past or future. When we spend our energy on the past and present we cover up our natural spontaneity and creativity. We may feel we have neither creativity or spontaneity, but, if we can learn to silence the mind, we realize that we have far more potential than we currently believe. To access this source of inspiration we just need to quieten the mind. Some of the great thinkers and scientists were able to make important discoveries when they could absorb themselves in their work, to the exclusion of all else. Meditation helps us to live in the current moment, and thus can help us to unlock our creative potential.

Discovering the Purpose of Life.

If you are satisfied with your current life. If you feel perfect contentment and happiness then, at the moment, meditation is not necessary. However, if you feel empty inside; if you aspire to know more about the nature of existence and life, then meditation can be of great help. Usually we look for meaning in life through external events and other people. Meditation, however, shows us that we can gain a greater understanding of life through knowing who we are. In meditation we gain a new perspective of life, uncolored by our own egoistic perspective. For those who wish it, meditation can become a lifelong process of answering the eternal question: “Who am I?”
The benefits of meditation are real, but, it also requires perseverance. It is mistake to expect all these benefits in the first few attempts; the mind takes time to tame. Also, it is difficult to explain all the benefits of meditation, because it involves a state of consciousness that cannot be expressed by words. To appreciate the benefits of meditation it is essential to meditate yourself. Alas, it is not sufficient to just read about it. Start meditating today!

What is meditation

Meditation is silencing the incessant chatter of the restless mind for that ... we ... begin ... with ... the ... breath. The process of meditation is simple - Close your eyes and be with your natural breath. Meditation silences the restless waves of mind, thereby preserving soul energy leading to good health, peace of mind and wisdom of life. Meditation done inside a pyramid, or underneath a pyramid, is called as Pyramid Meditation

About life university

“The Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins With a Single Step...”
                                                                                  - Lao Tzu

Life University is the idea of New Age Spiritual Master Dr. Newton Kondaveti to establish a Global Center for the learning of Spiritual Science, modeled on the lines of the ancient “Takshashila University” and “Nalanda University”. Its purpose is to be like a lighthouse to mankind by showing the right way to live – with Wisdom, Compassion, Peace and Joy. Awakening the innate wisdom in each one of us is the surest way to do this. The singular objective of “Life University” is therefore ‘Awakening Wisdom Within’.
Interestingly, the inspiration for Life University came from Dr. Newton’s past life memories. One of his most profound past life visions was when he saw himself as an ‘Acharya’ at Takshashila University, where he was teaching Buddha’s wisdom with special emphasis on Reincarnation and the Law of ‘Karma’. Although conceived many lifetimes ago, Dr. Newton announced the vision of Life University on his 38th birthday (24thNovember, 2007). That set the grand project rolling and soon after, 150 acres of land was acquired near Vikarabad, Rangareddy District in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India, for setting up Life University.
Life University is set amidst pristine, natural surroundings and both the land and surrounding atmosphere are charged with high energies. Work commenced on 10th June 2010 when a core group, under the leadership of Dr. Newton, visited the land and did a series of Meditations thereby creating the Astral Template of Life University. Life University is much more than just an educational institution. It seeks to create a spiritual community composed of people who understand spirituality, practice it, and live in oneness consciousness. It will become a city of light workers – a recreation of paradise on earth. The timing of the manifestation of Life University is very significant as it coincides with this exciting period when the world is on the threshold of a major shift in human consciousness and is receiving a new influx of cosmic energy.

“ B-E-N-E-F-I-T-S OF MEDITATION ”
ANAPANASATI MEDITATION alone gives spiritual health to a person.
SPIRITUAL-HEALTH is the root and PHYSICAL-HEALTH is the fruit.
MEDITATION is the greatest gift gis to our own lives. We can give so much to ourselves.

IN MEDITATION
  • Diseases are healed totally ....
  • Memory-power becomes increased ..
  • Wasteful habits die a natural death ..
  • Mind stays in a peaceful and joyful state ..
  • Work gets done with greater efficiency ..
  • Sleep-time requirements get reduced ..
  • Relationships become more qualitative ..
  • Will-power gets tremendously increased ..
  • Ability to discern right / wrong gets sharpened ..
  • Purpose of life is thoroughly understood                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                “ Diseases are healed ”
All physical afflictions are because of mental worries. All mental worries are because of intellectual immaturity. Intellectual immaturity is because of lack of spiritual energy and lack of spiritual wisdom.
Through meditation, when we get abundant cosmic energy and spiritual wisdom, the intellect becomes mature. By and by, all mental worries cease. Consequently, all physical afflictions disappear. Meditation is the only way to heal all diseases.
Diseases manifest primarily because of previous negative karma. Until and unless the negative karma is neutralized, the disease will not entirely vanish; no medicine will be of any help to clear the negative karma.

“ Memory-power is enhanced ”

The abundant cosmic energy gained in meditation helps the brain to work more efficiently and to its maximum capacity. Meditation enhances memory-power tremendously.
Therefore, meditation is absolutely necessary for all students .. both at the school level and at the university level.

“ Wasteful habits die naturally ”
There are several wasteful habits like over- eating, over-sleeping, over-talking, over-thinking, over-drinking etc., etc.
With the abundant spiritual wisdom and cosmic energy obtained from meditation, all the wasteful habits die naturally.

“ Mind becomes more joyful ”

Life is so full of failures, insults and pains .. for any person. However, for a person with higher spiritual wisdom and abundant cosmic energy, life is always peaceful and joyful.. in spite of all the failures, insults and pains.

“ Work becomes more efficient ”

In the presence of abundant cosmic energy and higher spiritual wisdom, all work, be it physical or mental, gets done with greater efficiency.
In less time, more work is achieved. With least resources, commendable work gets done.

“ Sleep-time gets reduced ”

Abundant cosmic energy is obtained in meditation. Only a fraction of that energy is obtained during sleep.
Half-an-hour of deep meditation is equivalent to six hours of deep sleep .. in terms of rest for the body and energy for the mind.

“ More qualitative relationships ”

Lack of higher spiritual wisdom is the only reason why inter-personal relationships are so very unqualitative and unfulfilling.
In the presence of higher spiritual wisdom, all inter-personal relationships become highly qualitative and totally fulfilling.

“ Increased will-power ”

Intents need sufficient energy and sufficient power to reach their respective targets. In a restless state of mind, intents are made with least power. Therefore, they don't reach their respective targets.
However, in the presence of a restful state of mind, all positive intents acquire greater strength and all intents get dramatically actualized. In simple terms, we say that, the will- power gets boosted significantly.

“ Knowledge of right and wrong ”

“ What to do? ”
“ What not to do ? ”
These are always million-dollar questions ..
“ What is right? ”
“ What is wrong? ”
We are in a perpetual dilemma ..
However, such dilemmas are only for the spiritually immature persons. For a spiritually mature person there are no “ million dollar ” questions whatsoever. Everything is readily understood and readily acted upon.

“ Understanding purpose of life ”

We are all born with a specific purpose, with a specific mission, with a specific design, with a specific plan. Only the spiritually mature people can understand and be aware of their particular purpose, mission, design and plan in their lives.
The purpose of incarnation of any Soul is to progress further at the spirit / soul level, not leaving out enjoying the material plane.

10 interesting facts about the Great Pyramid of Giza

Still lots of mysteries are surrounding the Great Pyramid of Giza which probably are never going to be revealed, but I think that it’s the shade of a mystery which makes the wonder even more magneting and admiring. Going through the notes and research works about the Pyramid I found some particularly interesting and catchy facts which are highlighted below:

Kheops Pyramid Gyza 10 interesting facts about the Great Pyramid of Giza
1. Let’s start with a little funny paradox, did you know that the owner of the largest pyramid of Giza is also known for having the smallest Egyptian royal sculpture ever discovered? The ivory statue of paraoh Khufu (AKA Cheops) found at Abydos is 7.5 cm (3 inch) high.

khufu 10 interesting facts about the Great Pyramid of Giza
2. But you wouldn’t call Khufu a small guy in real life, in fact he is known as a big and cruel leader. As described by Herodotus: “Cheops moreover came, they said, to such a pitch of wickedness, that being in want of money he caused his own daughter to sit in the stews, and ordered her to obtain from those who came a certain amount of money (how much it was they did not tell me): and she not only obtained the sum appointed by her father, but also she formed a design for herself privately to leave behind her a memorial, and she requested each man who came in to give her one stone upon her building: and of these stones, they told me, the pyramid was built which stands in front of the great pyramid in the middle of the three, each side being one hundred and fifty feet in length.”

3. Here are some significant figures: Khufu was 20 when he came to the throne and at once began building his “Stairway to Heaven”. Khufu was the first pharaoh who build a pyramid at Giza. The entire project took about 23 years to complete, 2,300,000 building blocks, weighing an average of 2.5 tons each (Although some weigh as much as 16 tons) were used to build the great pyramid. The length of each side of the pyramid at the base is 755 feet (230.4 m). They rise at an angle of 51 52′ to a height, originally, of 481 feet (147 m) but nowadays 451 feet (138 m).

4. Some believe that Khufu’s pyramid at Giza was built by slaves, but modern Egyptologists accept that it was built by many tens of thousands of skilled workers rather than slaves. It is known that Khufu’s nephew Hemiunu was appointed head of construction for the Great Pyramid and that Khufu provided good food and clothing for his workers. According to Herodotus: “On the pyramid it is declared in Egyptian writing how much was spent on radishes and onions and leeks for the workmen, and if I rightly remember that which the interpreter said in reading to me this inscription, a sum of one thousand six hundred talents of silver was spent…” In the video below, you’ll find interesting information about the pyramid builders.

5. Experts have talked a lot about the methods by which stone blocks were raised into position, it is usually assumed that wooden and bronze levers were used to put the blocks into position. “This pyramid was made after the manner of steps which some called “rows” and others “bases”: and when they had first made it thus, they raised the remaining stones with machines made of short pieces of timber, raising them first from the ground to the first stage of the steps, and when the stone got up to this it was placed upon another machine standing on the first stage, and so from this it was drawn to the second upon another machine…” – describes Herodotus.

6. About 600 years ago, beautiful smooth blocks known as Casing Stones covered the entire exterior of the pyramid, encasing the whole structure, before the Arabs began to tear the stones off. The ancient writer, Strabo, said: “It seemed like a building let down from heaven, untouched by human hands.”  It has been calculated that the original pyramid with its casing stones would act like gigantic mirrors and reflect light so powerful that it would be visible from the moon as a shining star on earth. At the present, only a few of these are left in position on each side at the base.  One of the largest remaining Casing stones is nearly 5 feet high by 8 feet at the bottom, and weighs about 14 tons.

7. There are three known chambers inside the Great Pyramid – King’s chamber, Queen’s chamber and unfinished chamber. A team of French Egyptologists (Gilles Dormion and Jean-Yves Verd’hurt) claims that an undiscovered room lies underneath the pyramid’s Queen’s Chamber and insists that it is the actual burial chamber for Khufu and not the one known as the King’s chamber. However, even those who believe that the King’s chamber was never put to use believe that Khufu may have been buried elsewhere rather than in another, hidden chamber. Well, there are still lots of mysteries concerning Khufu’s burial to be.. or never to be revealed.

8. One of the most mysterious parts of the Great Pyramid is the empty coffer in the King’s Chamber, it is made from a solid block of chocolate-colored granite and is even harder than the granite walls of the King’s Chamber. For thousands of years, researchers have wondered about its purpose. Ancient legend says that it came from Atlantis or even from America.  It was never inscribed or decorated. Also, since it is too large to pass through the low passages leading into the King’s Chamber, it is considered to be placed in the chamber before the chamber was closed and passages were sealed.

9. The interior temperature of the Pyramid is constant and equals the average temperature of the earth, 20 Degrees Celsius (68 Degrees Fahrenheit).
10. Another pleasant discovery in the Great Pyramid is a spectacular ancient cedar-wood boat, which was found sealed in a pit at the base of the Great pyramid. This boat was interred in pieces and has since been reassembled, restored and preserved in a climate controlled museum over the site of the original pit. The name “Djedefre”,  who was Khufu’s son and successor, is found on some of the slabs of stone that sealed the pit, indicating that probably the boat was put there by Khufu’s son.

vegetarianism

Vegetarianism is absolutely essential for spiritual life. In fact, spirituality and vegetarianism are synonymous. EVERY BODY HAS TO BECOME A VEGETARIAN. Quantum vibrational science is slowly recognizing the ill effects of animal food in human systems. The cardinal principle of any religious movement is love. Love is nothing other than being kind to our co-animal-beings of the earth. ANIMALS ARE NOT FOOD FOR HUMANS.
Further, we can’t afford to over eat. We should eat only according to our need ... not according to our greed. Only when we are hungry, we may eat. If you are not hungry, you should never eat. -Brahmarshi Patriji

Arthur E. Powell ... of the Theosophical Society ... has beautifully said the following :
" A physical body nourished on impure food will produce a correspondingly impure astral body, whilst a physical body fed on clean food and drink will help to purify the astral vehicle. "
" It is impossible to make the physical body coarse and at the same time to organize the astral and mental bodies for finer purposes ... neither is it possible to have a pure physical body with impure mental and astral bodies. All three bodies are thus inter-dependent. "
" Carnivorous diet is fatal to anything like real occult development, and those who adopt it are throwing serious and unnecessary difficulties in their own way, for flesh blood intensifies all the undesirable elements and passions of the lower planes. "

" And the flesh of slain beasts in his body will become his own tomb. For I tell you truly, he who kills, kills himself, and who so eats the flesh of slain beasts, eats the body of death. "
                                                                                                                           - Jesus Christ

" Everyone in the business : the one who abets, the one who cuts, the one who kills, the one who sells, the one who prepares, the one who eats ... all are killers ! "

" For fear of causing terror to living beings ... let the Bodhisattva who is disciplining himself to attain compassion refrain from eating flesh ! "
                                                                                                                                 - Gautama Buddha

" God doesn't like the flesh and blood that you offer as sacrifice. He expects nothing but your absolute faith ."

" People who eat meat are responsible for all the pain that grows out of meat-eating, and which is necessitated by the use of sentient animals as food. "

" As long as there are slaughter houses, there will be battle fields. A vegetarian diet is the acid test of humanitarianism "

" To feed on death is to become food for death. To live by other's pain is to become a prey for pain. So has decreed the omni-will. Know that and choose your course "
